Karon
Welcome to Karon Beach! Located on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand, Karon is beautiful little beach town. We spent 24 hours here and it did not disappoint! We found some delicious street food and of course visited a 7-Eleven. Tip- if you're wanting to have a picnic on the beach make sure you don't sit on an ant hill lol. Watch the video of 24 hours in Karon here.
One interesting thing about Karon is that the town caters to a large amount of Russian tourists with many restaurants featuring their local dishes. Rather than a sign having both Thai and English wording - in Karon they have Thai and Russian.
We enjoyed spending time at the beach, the water was crystal clear! The beach was large and not very busy. We primarily ate street food like skewers of corn and squid and delicious fresh fruit! It was also time for us to get our laundry done. In Thailand, it’s incredibly cheap to have your laundry done by someone else. This felt like a huge luxury to us because we had been washing small amounts of clothing in the sink. We paid only 90 Baht, or $2.80 USD, for my laundry to be washed, dried and folded! It smelled absolutely heavenly and was 100% worth it.
The hotel we stayed at was decent for one night as we didn't spend much time in the room but if we stayed again I would probably book something else. It was close to the beach and the staff were as helpful as they could be but the shower wouldn’t drain properly and the “view” we had wasn't what was pictured on the website when we booked. Like I said, it was ok for one nigh, and given that were are in the middle of a pandemic we weren’t about to complain unless it was truly unbearable.
