Kas, Turkey

Kas is like a breathe of fresh air located on the southern coast of Turkey, AKA the Turkish Riviera. We rented a car in Antalya and drove the most BEAUTIFUL coastal highway overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. We did some research and there are some public busses that can get you there but it seemed a little complicated for us so we opted to drive. Skip to the bottom if you just want the specifics and our google saved list.

We booked an Airbnb that had the most beautiful view- but one thing we’ve learned is that sometimes comes with a nice uphill hike. Kas is a very small town and you do not need a car to get around- we literally parked it at the Airbnb and didn’t touch it until we left. The old town is fairly flat but most of the surrounding accommodations are located up a hill. This is something to keep in mind as it did change our trip a little bit. Because the walk up to our Airbnb was so steep (and it was realllly hot) we tried to only make that trek once per day. I guess we are just lazy haha. We do recommend the Airbnb we stayed at and I will link it here but be prepared to walk uphill.

This town was so charming and the vibe was pure relaxation! Everyone there was so happy and chill and it really felt stress free. We spent our mornings drinking Turkish tea on the terrace and our afternoons walking around the old town. There are plenty of affordable food options here with bakeries and counter service restaurants. If you want something nicer- the options are endless! There are countless romantic al fresco dining options but keep in mind they will cost you.

Lemon turned 40 while we were there so we booked a boat tour that took us to Kekova Island and the Sunken City. I’ll link it here so you can check out the details. It was one of the BEST things we did while we were in Turkey. There’s also an amphitheater you can walk to and it’s free to enter! There are tons of day trips you can do from Kas (and many beautiful beaches) but we really just wanted to spend our time relaxing and wandering the old town. For us- it was a fantastic place to vacation and was a nice break from the craziness of Istanbul and Antalya.

  • Rent a car to get to Kas

  • Great place to vacation

  • If you’re staying somewhere with a view of the sea (and you’re not on the water) there will be a steep walk up

  • Prices are a little higher but there are inexpensive places to eat

  • Book a boat tour to Kekova Island

  • Get lost walking around the old town and the harbor

All of the places we visited, and some we didn’t, are saved here Google Maps Saved Link.
